Water is the element that, more than any other, ties human beings in to the world around them Â? from the oceans that surround us to the water that makes up most of our bodies. Exploring the cultural and philosophical implications of this fact, Bodies of Water develops an innovative new mode of posthuman feminist phenomenology that understands our bodies as being fundamentally part of the natural world and not separate from or privileged to it. Building on the works by Luce Irigaray, Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Gilles Deleuze, Astrida Neimanis's book is a landmark study that brings a new feminist perspective to bear on ideas of embodiment and ecological ethics in the posthuman critical moment.

Chris Dombrowski was playing a numbers game: two passions—poetry and fly-fishing; two children, one of them in utero; and an income hovering perilously close to zero. Enter, at this particularly challenging moment, a miraculous email: can’t go, it’s all paid for, just book a flight to Miami. Thus began a journey that would lead to the Bahamas and to David Pinder, a legendary bonefishing guide. Bonefish are prized for their elusiveness and their tenacity. And no one was better at hunting them than Pinder, a Bahamian whose accuracy and patience were virtuosic. He knows what the fish think, said one fisherman, before they think it. By the time Dombrowski meets Pinder, however, he has been abandoned by the industry he helped build. With cataracts from a lifetime of staring at the water and a tiny severance package after forty years of service, he watches as the world of his beloved bonefish is degraded by tourists he himself did so much to attract. But as Pinder’s stories unfold, Dombrowski discovers a profound integrity and wisdom in the guide’s life.

Greenwood is a writer of subtle strength. . .finding light in the darkest of stories. --Publishers Weekly on Two Rivers In 1960, Billie Valentine is a young housewife living in a sleepy Massachusetts suburb, treading water in a dull marriage and caring for two adopted daughters. Summers spent with the girls at their lakeside camp in Vermont are her one escape--from her husband's demands, from days consumed by household drudgery, and from the nagging suspicion that life was supposed to hold something different. Then a new family moves in across the street. Ted and Eva Wilson have three children and a fourth on the way, and their arrival reignites long-buried feelings in Billie. The affair that follows offers a solace Billie has never known, until her secret is revealed and both families are wrenched apart in the tragic aftermath. Fifty years later, Ted and Eva's son, Johnny, contacts an elderly but still spry Billie, entreating her to return east to meet with him. Once there, Billie finally learns the surprising truth about what was lost, and what still remains, of those joyful, momentous summers. In this deeply tender novel, T. Greenwood weaves deftly between the past and present to create a poignant and wonderfully moving story of friendship, the resonance of memories, and the love that keeps us afloat. "Complex and compelling." --Eleanor Brown, New York Times bestselling author of The Weird Sisters

With mercurial wands, Baal s angels, decks with wild Jacks of oracle bones, tempest Serpens, Lord Byron on the Bridge of Sighs, stallions mottled grey, a dark blue stronger than the Flemish blue of hummingbirds, and poesis lying in the ashes of a dress, Janet Hamill turns her wizard poet s eye on an immense body of alchemical empathies. This book is a romantic, surreal, lyrical Voyage. It twists and turns with the playful tide of poetic vision, enhanced by the delicate measures of Patti Smith s photography. Kudos all around. Anne Waldman Reading Janet Hamill now, as I have over the last thirty years, I m amazed again at the particulars of the world her poetry makes a night world, as I read it, peopled with bright creatures and splashes of color, beautiful and terrifying by turns. With this there is a mix, too, of pop forms and strains, and of catholic and pagan names and images angels and saints and hermits as in the vision of her sleeping gypsy: firebird sweets / a morsel a taste of carrion / . . . as in a dream. With this and much more, she has become indispensable. Jerome Rothenberg With its unbridled surrealistic, hypnotic imagery, Janet Hamill s alchemy of language gives us back communion with our souls. With a magician s grace she reminds us of the enchantment of our being. Hers is a music both modern and magik. Maureen Owen . . . Janet Hamill has sought transcendence in language on the page or sung . . . Hamill s mastery of form and feeling comes together to create a poem that delicately examines celebrity, gallantry, silence, talent, and beauty. Only a poet could do that. Or maybe only Janet Hamill. The analytical views in this book are not in any way serendipity; rather, they were well thought-out and structured as simply received. Thus arises the need to initiatively look back at the epoch of our existence on Earth as preceded by the following: survival of the fittest, search for food, where to live, sacrifices and rituals to appeal to God, brutalism against one another, religious sect formation, and deforestation due to uncontrollable population increase. Improvisation of wooden houses, trees of concrete, iron, and steel have been initiated, but, in a way, they have continually caused global warming to increase very much, at a gradual pace, as civilization advances through Machine Age/mechanized farming, industrialization, and technological advancements, space exploration, and globalization of industries and corporate organizations. The heat increases at an unusual, unprecedented level due to greenhouse gas emission and thus the assumed greenhouse releases a light-weight carbon dioxide (CO2) gas into the atmosphere, which is speculated to have formed impenetrable blanket. The presence of CO2 is an indicator, pointing to a fact that this gas in question had been released in the past and is presently being discharged uncontrollably. More so, there seems to be no end in sight as the CO2 continues to be sporadically expunged into the atmosphere. The process described above has continued to be expanding through all frontiers with no end in sight, where new neighborhoods are being built, Suburbs margining together as new Castles are evolving block by block, and concrete plazas are enveloping the Earth; so are the vegetative forest of trees are disappearing, causing global warming to increase exponentially. The increase becomes very much intense at an alarming rate in that it has now been considered to be adversely effective when found to be dangerously impacting the essence and every facet of life. Analytical research is hereby required to be conducted by the world's best researchers and scientists in their respective professional fields. Necessary wisdom of advice has to be forwarded by religious leaders of all known, notable, reliable religious groups or denominations. Leaders and heads of governments of all Nations that control every facet of life, in every part of the globe, must guide and monitor, purposely to do proper checks and balances with intuition, ideology, predictions, and prophecies contained in this book. The Land & the Orchard of Human Species This is to determine the level of damages caused by humanity, thereby putting the Earth's conditions into a scale of ratio prior to civilization, and, as civilization progresses, i. e., the condition of the Earth from time immemorial as the scientists and archaeologists can determine through lists of records and documentaries. Precisely, from premedieval periods to present days and age, while projecting into the future of the planet Earth in order for us to be just and find peace among ourselves and on Earth. If humanity cannot find peace on Earth, then, we cannot find peace elsewhere because human's trait is like a shadow that trails behind you when you take a walk in the light. Source of all lives and the means of energy and growth.
